Dinely Nunez was born in Venezuela. She graduated with a degree in early childhood education and immigrated to the U.S. 15 years ago to escape political persecution. My parents and siblings remained in Venezuela.
She is a mom to two daughters and lives with her husband, youngest daughter and her inseparable companion, a goldendoodle named Bailey.
In May 2021, after an annual check up, doctors diagnosed Dinely with breast cancer-ductal carcinoma in situ breast cancer. Two months later, she had a mastectomy with expanders, and six months after that, reconstruction. She is still undergoing hormonal therapy.
Dinely found Forge after her reconstruction but since then, she says it has been a fundamental part of her survivorship journey. Acceptance, release and overcoming thoughts and emotions have been possible thanks to Forge and the group of women who make up her "Forge family." "
"There I learned to let out and let go of what I had kept inside throughout my process," said Dinely. "We have formed a group where we constantly support one another, and we have turned this experience into a reason to keep raising awareness in our Latin community, above all. To lend a hand to those who need it. That has been the most comforting part for me. Forge has placed a bandage on my heart, and I feel grateful and proud to be part of its volunteers and ambassadors."
